ABOUT US

Our Mission

Our Mission

Where faith and family meet, impacting our community from the inside out.

Deepening Faith

Faith is a journey, not merely a destination. We acknowledge that everyone is at a different place in their journey. Regardless of where you are, it is our goal to equip you to grow deeper in your faith and love for Jesus Christ.

Strengthening Families

A strong church is comprised of strong families. Living Word is a multi-generational church that seeks to develop families that are  spiritually and emotional healthy. To accomplish this, we have ministries that focus on different aspects of the family and opportunities for deeper connection.

Impacting Community

The by-product of deep faith and strong families is actively being the hands and feet of Jesus Christ. It is our desire to impact our community, our nation and our world.

OUR BELIEFS

Our Beliefs

Living Word is a Bible-based church. That means we believe and practice what is explicitly taught in the Bible. We believe and teach the following:

About the Bible

The Bible is the inspired, inerrant, and perfectly preserved Word of God. It is true in all that it teaches. As the flawless Word of God, it is our only authority for what we believe and how we live (2 Tim 3.15-17).

About God

There is only one God. The One God has revealed Himself to us as our Father, in His Son Jesus Christ, and through the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that is, the One God manifested in and through an authentic human life. The fullness of the godhead dwells in Jesus bodily. To see Jesus is to see God. (Deut 6.4; John 14.9; Eph 4.4-6; Col 2.9; 1 Tim 3.16).

About Sin and Salvation

Everyone has sinned and needs salvation. Salvation comes by grace through faith based on the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ (Rom 3.23-25; 6.23; Eph 2.8-9).

About the Gospel

The gospel is the good news that Jesus lived a perfect life, died for our sins, was buried, and rose again three days later. We express our belief in the gospel through our obedience to the gospel. We obey the gospel and apply it to our lives by repenting of our sins (death to sin), being baptized in water in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of our sins (burial), and receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit (resurrection) with the initial evidence of speaking in other tongues. This threefold experience is the consistent pattern of conversion in the early church (1 Cor 15.1-4; 2 Thes 1.8; 1 Pet 4.17; Mark 1.15; Acts 15.7; Rom 6.3-4; Acts 2.4, 37-39; 8.9-17; 10.1-48; 19.1-7).

About Christian Living

As Christians we are to love God and love others. We are to worship God joyfully and seek to live a life that is pleasing to him both inwardly and outwardly—in our thoughts, words, and actions. We are empowered to live a life pleasing to God through the Holy Spirit. As a Pentecostal church, we believe that the supernatural gifts of the Spirit are at work in and for the church today and are available to all Spirit-filled believers (Mark 12.28-31; 1 Cor 12.8-10; 2 Cor 7.1; Rom 8.13-14; Gal 5.19-26; Heb 12.14).

About the Future

Jesus Christ is coming again to rapture his church. In the end will be the final resurrection and the final judgment. The righteous will inherit eternal life in heaven with Jesus Christ, and the unrighteous eternal death. (1 Thes 4.16-17; Rev 20.11-15).

OUR HISTORY

Our History

The following is a brief history of how the church first began and the key milestones that led Living Word to where it is today.

Living Word was started in 1996 with just eight people, in the living room of David and Dolores Meyer. It was in this environment that the DNA of family was infused into the church. People would come for service and stay for hours afterward sharing food and fellowship with each other.

In 1998 Living Word began assembling in a small auditorium at the Best Western Midway Hotel down the road. Early on, it became increasingly evident that regardless of location, God’s hand was on this church. Bible studies were being taught and people were obeying the Gospel message by repenting of their sins, being baptized in Jesus name and being filled with the gift of the Holy Ghost.

In November 1999 the church moved to Prospect Hill Elementary School. Services were initially held in half of the gymnasium until the growing congregation required the partition to be drawn back for use of the full space.

Living Word accepted a great offer on thirty acres of land down the road but weren’t yet able to afford to break ground and build. The congregation began meeting at Ronald Reagan Elementary on July 28, 2010, back to setting up chairs and equipment. Meanwhile, the pastoral team searched for a bank for a loan while they ran a capital campaign to raise funds for a future building. This was a defining moment for the church. One in which the congregation sacrificially and joyfully gave not only of their finances, but also their time and talent. During this giving campaign, a bank agreed to lend to Living Word and by the conclusion construction was started.

With breaking ground and building an edifice in late 2012 and all 2013, Living Word Apostolic Church finally had their first service in a building of their very own on Sunday, January 26, 2014. This was the culmination of a lot prayers, sacrifice and most importantly the blessing and favor of the Lord. This new season of autonomy, brought visibility in the community, continued advancement in the Kingdom and growth.

A new season awaits Living Word Church, as they overwhelmingly elected David R. Meyer to be the next pastor on October 24, 2022. Founding pastor David E, Meyer retired on September 6, 2022 after a spirit-led and sacrificial-filled twenty-six years of pastoring. As the church looks forward to continued growth and revival, it is evident that the legacy of David E. and Dolores Meyer will continue to live on.
